Cryotherapy, also called "cold therapy", usually consists of applying cold to a pathological area of ??the body. Cold relieves pain, and reduces swelling and bruising faster. This method has been known since ancient times and today, an ice pack or a spray of liquid cold (cryogen spray) are the most often used. Cryotherapy is also used to destroy warts: in this case, the warts must be brushed with liquid nitrogen at very low temperatures. The virtues of cold are sometimes used during surgery.
