July 2017

A dental curettage is a surgical procedure performed by a dentist, usually under local anesthesia. Using specific surgical tools, the dentist will clean a cavity contained in the mouth with the utmost care. Dental curettage can aim to remove tartar which accumulated under the gums, clean dead tissue from a decayed tooth in order to treat or even eradicate an abscessed tooth. Open dental curettage, requires opening the gum, and is only undertaken when absolutely necessary.
