Vulvar itching - Definition

Definition

Itching or pruritus of the vulva may affect the labia majora and minora as well as the entry to the vagina. Vulvar itching can be due to many causes: simple irritation from the use of toiletries unsuitable for this sensitive area, a herpes-type virus, the presence of fungi (yeast infection). In general, itching is accompanied by other signs such as local redness or sometimes vaginal discharge. This symptom is common in girls, often affected by vulvitis, a minor inflammation. Good hygiene makes the symptoms disappear.
