An impacted tooth is a tooth that has not detached from the jaw and is stuck in the bone, partially or completely. Generally, the most affected teeth are the wisdom teeth, the molars, or the maxillary canines. An impacted tooth may be due to a lack of space in the jaw, the tooth that grows in the wrong direction, another tooth impeding its progress, or excessive bone density. An impacted tooth can get a cavity like any other tooth and may require extraction.
