Definition

A glomus tumor is one which grows from a component of skin called a glomus body. These types of tumor are rare, usually tiny, and benign. They can, however, cause severe pain, especially on touch or when pressed upon. Treatment methods are primarily based on surgical ablation of the tumor. Glomus tumors are generally located on the phalanges of the fingers.
