Definition

The average platelet count is measured from blood tests and defines the average quantity of blood platelets in one blood sample. A normal platelet count is between 7 and 11fl (femtoliters). This count is typically higher in men. A lack of platelets indicates an anomaly in blood coagulation capacity, also called hemostasis.
