Definition

Also known as the umbilicus, the navel is the trace left by the healing of the umbilical cord at birth. This scar is visible in all placental mammals. They are positioned at the same level in all men, yet have specific umbilics in terms of size, shape and even depth. However, human navels can be classified into two broad categories. Internal navel, with a more or less consistent hole is the majority umbilics form. But sometimes the navel has an outer form often due to excess skin from the umbilical cord.
