Adenoma of the prostate - Definition

Definition

Adenoma of the prostate, also called benign hypertrophy of the prostate is a benign tumor on this gland, located under the bladder of men. This causes an increase in the size of the prostate, which can lead to symptoms such as difficulty urinating, a frequent need to urinate, a weak stream, or difficulty ejaculating. The causes are not well-known, but age visibly plays a role: in fact, it mainly occurs in men over the age of 50. The adenoma is usually not removed unless the symptoms become too troublesome.
