Aniseed - Definition


Aniseed is a plant originating from Asia that grows on average between 20 and 30 inches tall, and is used for cooking purposes. The seeds are used in infusions for their therapeutic benefits. Aniseed is also known to calm certain digestive problems, especially the expulsion of gas and the reduction of swelling. Aniseed can sometimes help relieve coughing. It's a plant that can be used to relieve colic in infants. Nursing women can drink aniseed infusions to increase the production of breast milk. Consumed in large amounts, aniseed can lead to convulsions.
