Liver nodule - Definition

Ask a question

Nodules are abnormal growths, usually round in form, that accumulate on the surface of tissue or in an organ. When found in the liver, they take the form of small bumps within the liver tissue, and are usually benign, rarely causing symptoms. They can, nevertheless, induce mild to severe pain if of a large size. They are easily detected with an ultrasound exam, sometimes revealing many nodules together, which is called focal nodular hyperplasia.
