Penile prosthesis - Definition

A penile prosthesis is a prosthesis implanted in the penis to ensure a healthy sexual activity in cases of erectile dysfunction that are not resolved by medication. The devices range from semi rigid to the more commonly-used inflatable, where a pump inserted in the scrotum can be activated. Penile prostheses are typically considered a last resort for cases of impotence.
