Shoulder capsulitis - Definition

Ask a question

Capsulitis defines capsule inflammation at a joint. The capsulitis most frequently encountered affects the shoulder and is called adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder or frozen shoulder. This condition is in fact a chronic form of arthritis of the shoulder at the joint between the scapula and the humerus. It causes progressive stiffening of the shoulder with pain increased by movements. Shoulder capsulitis can disappear over time, however, this may take several years. Taking anti-inflammatory drugs and doing physical therapy exercises help fight against the stiffness and pain and can speed healing.
