Chloasma - Definition

Chloasma is a skin lesion.

It appears as small, irregularly shaped patches of skin which are darker than the normal skin tone. This is a purely esthetic condition which is not serious. The spots usually appear on sun-exposed areas, especially the face, neck, and neckline. Pregnancy can trigger melasma located on the face and commonly called the mask of pregnancy. This skin condition can also be seen in a wide range of diseases without causing any clinical consequences.
