Scarring - Definition

Scarring is a natural phenomenon of rebuilding a damaged area. It can be tissue or organ regeneration, often of the skin, or the consolidation of a component separated in two, such as in cases of bone fracture. Skin scarring involves different stages that lead to the disappearance of a lesion and the replacement of damaged cells by healthy cells. In cases of fracture, the immobilized bone heals to form a bone identical to the original. Healing time depends on the nature and severity of the lesion.
