Collagen - Definition


Collagen is an essential protein in the formation of connective tissue (supportive tissue) appearing in the form of fibers which gives a certain resistance to the tissues when they are stretched. Collagen is a protein involved in the formation of the body and is very abundant in the body. Connective tissue diseases are chronic inflammatory diseases characterized by an alteration of the connective tissue.
