Cortisone - Definition


Cortisone is a hormone in the steroid family. In the body, cortisone is produced by the adrenal glands, located in the upper part of the kidneys. Its main actions are to intervene against inflammatory or allergic reactions and act on the connective tissue. Cortisone is often made ??in the laboratory to be used in connection with medical treatments. It is frequently used as a one-time treatment in temporary joint pain, sometimes in the form of injections, but also in long-term chronic joint diseases; however, its prolonged use is responsible for significant side effects.
