Sick leave - Definition

Sick leave means a cessation of work ordered by a doctor, following a report that the state of health of a patient is not compatible with his work. The length of the sick leave varies according to the seriousness of the affliction. Sick leave requests must be sent to the employer and to the appropriate health insurance company within 48 hours. The health insurance company takes care of allocating daily compensation calculated on the basis of the gross salary.
