Cytomegalovirus serology tests - Definition


Serology is a term refering to the study of the serums of body aimed at detecting alterations caused by disease. Cytomegalovirus can be detected through blood serum analysis or the presence of antibodies specific to this virus. This is a virus of the herpes family that can lie dormant in the body and induce symptoms essentially observed in immunocompromised individuals, those whose body defenses are weakened.
