Spondylosis - Definition

Spondylosis is a term employed for vertebral disease. It is rarely used on its own, and has several different forms for different conditions, such as spondylitis, an inflammation of the vertebra; spondylosis, where a vertebra is insufficiently dense or calcified; this last sometimes leading to spondylolisthesis, a displacement of part of the spinal column. Spondylosis is sometimes the term used to describe ankylosing spondylitis, a disease commonly affecting young men that manifests as an inflammation of the vertebral joints (of the spinal column) and the joints at the back of the pelvis, inducing intermittent periods of pain.
