Home care assistant - Definition


A home care assistant is in charge of a dependent person, either temporarily or definitively, following an illness or handicap. The home care assistant executes the tasks that the dependent can no longer carry out. The assistant is also a moral aid who must listen well and be empathetic. The home care assistant can help with bathroom needs, preparing meals, going shopping, and providing transport. The assistant work may be needed day or night.
