Abortion - Definition

Abortion is a procedure intended to terminate the progress of a pregnancy. It may have non-medical motivations, in which case it is called a voluntary termination of pregnancy. This type of abortion is protected by French law, under the condition that it cannot be performed after the twelfth week of pregnancy. When the fetus has malformations or serious diseases, this time limit may be exceeded and the voluntary termination of pregnancy may be performed. It is possible to have an abortion by taking medications or by undergoing surgery.
