Therapeutic patient education - Definition

Therapeutic patient education, or TPE, is a process that maximizes the abilities of the chronically ill's family and friends to take charge of the disease. TPE even integrates the disease itself so that it acquires more autonomy. The goal of therapeutic patient education is to give the patient an active role in the established protocol.Knowledge and competence are transferred to him by health professionals so that his quality of life improves through his self-acceptance. TPE is an integral part of the continued care process.
