Eosinophilia - Definition

Eosinophilia refers to an increase in the number of eosinophils (type of white blood cell) in the blood, diagnosed by a simple blood test. It can be observed during a parasitic disease, due to the role of eosinophils in immune mechanisms. It can also prove to be abnormal and harmful during certain afflictions, notably allergic ones. There are thus risks of complications such as tissue lesions.
