History of medicine - Definition

The history of medicine covers the study of medicine from its very beginnings to the present day. It focuses on all medical disciplines, whether they are still practiced today or have disappeared entirely from clinical practice. The early days of medicine were characterized by the use of medicinal plants, then the field advanced with scientific and industrial progress, becoming more and more sophisticated and precise. The history of medicine also includes the study of the many evolutions experienced in different countries, belief systems, and cultures.
