Ecosystem - Definition

The ecosystem is the set of all living components in an area as well as the environment that surrounds them. In medicine, the term ecosystem can be used to talk about certain organs or areas of the body. For example, the ecosystem of the digestive tract or gastrointestinal flora is a group of bacteria that inhabit the digestive system from birth. These bacteria help the body digest food. If the balance of the ecosystem in the digestive tract is disturbed, as in cases of dietary changes or invasion by other germs, gastric disorders, such as diarrhea, may occur.
