Flaccid - Definition

Ask a question

A flaccid muscle is a muscle that has reduced its tone. The muscle then appears soft and does not accurately respond to demands. The term therefore refers to the inability of a muscle to respond to stimulation and its origin can be muscular, but more often nervous. This hypotony can affect any muscle. Neuromuscular damage, such as myopathy, lead to a disorder where all the muscles appear flaccid and prevent their normal mobility.
