Glossolalia - Definition

A paranormal phenomenon, glossolalia is closely tied to religion as it consists of prayer spoken out loud in a language foreign to the person proclaiming it. This can also be a series of incomprehensible syllables which have the air of an unknown language. For Christians, glossolalia is a gift transmitted by the Holy Spirit, but this phenomenon also exists in other religions and in spiritualism. This term is also used in neurology to describe a deconstruction of language in certain patients.
