Breast implant - Definition

Ask a question

A breast implant is a prosthesis used to increase the volume of a breast or to reconstruct a breast following a mastectomy. These implants are inserted surgically, with the prosthesis itself made up of a flexible, outer shell and silicone gel contents. They must be manufactured in the strictest adherence to security standards outlined by the European community, and verified, in France, by the AFSSAPS, the French agency for the safety of health products.
