Impulsivity - Definition

Impulsivity, or impulsiveness, signifies a personality trait, a type of behavior meaning someone who acts without considering the consequences of his or her actions. It is not rare for impulsivity to be associated with aggressive behavior types, which are caused by serotonin deficiency or genetic factors. Impulsivity is, in fact, observed in patients suffering from neuropsychiatric disorders, such as bipolar or borderline personality disorder. Some degenerative diseases or cranial trauma can stimulate the development of impulsive behavior.
