Homeopathy - Definition

Homeopathy is a form of alternative medicine. It is historically based on the theory that a substance causing a symptom in a healthy person could, in a person with this symptom, make it disappear. Currently practiced by some homeopaths or general practitioners, homeopathy is based on the use of active substances in minute concentrations. However, many controversies exist regarding this therapy, those who oppose its strongest supporters highlight the scientific studies on homeopathy which show that it is no more beneficial than a placebo, meaning a drug devoid of any active ingredient.
