Marjoram is a plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family and similar to oregano. It is also known as "sweet marjoram" or "knotted marjoram." It can be used in cooking and has interesting medicinal properties. Its extracts including essential oil, used in alternative medicine as an antiseptic: marjoram would be very effective in destroying certain bacteria. It also has other virtues, such as relieving insomnia and headaches as well as having a positive influence on the digestive system.
