Femur - Definition

Longest and resistant bone in the human body, the femur is in the thigh.
It provides the junction between the pelvic bone and the knee joint. The femur plays an important role in motor legs. Walking, running, jumping: it is essential to all these activities. Although very strong, the femur can however break during a violent shock. Depending on the extent of the fracture, surgery may be necessary. It may include a plate screwed to the bone.
