Gums - Definition


Located in the mouth, gums mucosa covering the base of the teeth in the mandible (bone in the lower jaw) and the maxilla (bone in the upper jaw).


The gingiva is a base for teeth, which it covers and protects the roots against microbes.

Healthy gums

Healthy gingiva can be recognized above all by its color, pale pink.

red gums

It usually turns bright red and swells when it is suffering from a disease such as gingivitis, inflammation of the gums.

Good dental hygiene is recommended for healthy gums.
