The brain is the most important organ in the body. Protected inside the skull, it is the command center of the nervous system. It therefore has control over all organs of the body, motor and cognitive function, and hormone production. It is composed of brain cells, called neurons, which receive and transmit information. The brain consists of six lobes divided into two hemispheres. The brain consumes glucose in order to function.
