Hello,
What is the best way to help my sister who has just had her first baby? She seems a little low in mood and I am worried she may suffer from baby blues.

I have heard how frightening it is when you come home with your baby. I can see she is stressed and on edge. How can I help her?

Thank you
Hello,
She is probably very tired and anxious about having this new baby home, so you can do all the practical things for your sister. The shopping, house work and generally keeping the meals coming. Allow your sister to sleep as much as she can and if you can take the baby to give your sister a little break then that is wonderful. However if your sister is actually depressed then she must see her doctor or midwife for medical help and support.

Your sister is lucky to have you to help her out, also get the other family and friends to support her at this time. Good luck

Thank you
Hello,

I can understand your feeling and you should know that your sister needs lots of help. This is not a chosen illness and she won't be able to get out from this alone. The family should be around her. In fact it is said that past traumatism causes baby blues then it would be good if she could talk to a specialist.

Don't exert pressure on her as she won't understand anything and gets much more frustrated.

Good luck to all your family.
