Hello,

I've been on the pill for two months and I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. The problem is that I didn't take the pills for a period of seven continuous days. I want to know if there's any risk of pregnancy because of it. I have read many articles about these contraceptive pills and I'm scared now.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

You are actually protected during the period that you have stopped taking the pills. However, the risks of pregnancy still exist. Yet, always keep in mind that using condoms protect you from diseases!

It depends what type of pill you are taking. For the combined pill, you take a pill every day for 21 days then have a pill free week for 7 days. Therefore a 7 day break is normal and your risk of pregnancy is low. Hope this helps
