Hello,

I play badminton at a regional level. My doctor has recently diagnosed an inguinal hernia in my right side. I am keen to have an appointment with a surgeon as soon as possible but I am already competing in a competition this weekend. I really need to know whether my participation could lead to further complications. Please can you advise me, I am very grateful.

Thanking you in advance.

Thank you
Hello Ormche,

Fifteen years ago, I had a left inguinal hernia, I continued to play rugby. It was not painful but still it got bigger and bigger.

I waited too long and it was not until it got really bad that I decided to have surgery (last November).

As result, I had a 15 inch gash with 18 sutures. The pain was really intense. Also, after leaving hospital, I was forced to rest for a long time. A small piece of advice ... don't hesitate in having surgery and have it as soon as possible!!
